Shell Papers and Involving the Audience in a Long-Term Investigation
In 2019, Dutch groups Platform Authentieke Journalistiek (PAJ) and Follow the Money launched Shell Papers, a joint research project into the ties between the Dutch government and Royal Dutch Shell, the Netherlands‘ largest multinational company. To engage their readers in this long-term effort they have developed an innovative digital dashboard, which provides a transparent look at every step taken and encourages reader participation. How does the tool work and what has it achieved? What is the audience's response to long-term engagement? All this and more will be discussed by Bas van Beek, co-founder of PAJ.
